EDUCATION

Republicans have declared war on our public education system!

Every since the 70's when they first introduced their voucher system, they have been asking for increases in funding each year since.

                      What is a voucher system?

In short it is a system where YOU the tax payer, are contributing tax money that was assigned to public schools, but has now been re-routed to a voucher program. This program benefits mostly wealthy white Republican children to help fund their expensive private school tuition's.

Charter schools were established to benefit the middle class families children by partially funding tuition for charter schools through a federally funded state tax program. I think that it was created more as a distraction to convince voters to support their original private school voucher program.

Did you know that In most charter schools that are privately owned and operated, the only requirements to be a teacher is a high school diploma with a reasonable knowledge of the subject that they are teaching. Inadequately educated teachers get paid much less than a collage graduate which will greatly  increases the schools profit margins. But is this what you really want for your children?

I watched a couple of videos on cardiovascular surgery, that made me very knowledgeable in that subject, but I'm certain you wouldn't want me to preform your cardio-bi-pass surgery.

This system is destroying the public education system. It is draining the taxes for education. Have you ever wondered why ever since this was adopted in the 70's public schools are getting less and less funding from the states? This is a major part of the problem. As a result schools can no longer fund sports, school clubs and organizations that promote social intelligence and human coexistence. Parents and students are now required to have fund raiser to support these valuable social learning programs that 20 years ago, we took for granite..

That is where the war on education begins.

If the Republicans can get their way, and totally wipe out our current public education system, I think they feel that their children's private school education tuition can be totally funded by the Government.

One of their weapons is, and I hear this all the time from Conservatives:

                          "Teachers make too much money!"

Teacher salaries pail in comparison to an equally educated person working in the private sector. Thank God they do it for the love of teaching students. But eventually they will have to choose between poverty and that love. This same scenario played out during the great Reagan error.

Another weapon of theirs is:

"Class sizes are too small, teachers need more students in their classroom!"

It's strange that the only time that this is an issue is when it applies to public schools. It's definitely not an issue when it comes to their children in private or charter schools. Why is that? Does it have anything to do with their children's individualized attention?

Statistics show that students test better that attend private school. Why do you think this is so?

                                Classroom Size!

On March 24, 2011, Rick Scott, the man who purchased the Governors seat with over $80 million of his own money (or was it actually our money left over from that Medicare/Medicaid fraud?), signed into law the "Florida Merit Pay Bill".

This bill opens up a whole new area for corruption. A similar bill that was vetoed by Governor Cris in 2009, would have given former Governor Jeb Bush a nice cushioned job designing a new testing program for students.

Principals now have the power to fire any teacher that they deem unsuccessful in their teaching skills as a result from their students test scores. Teachers will most likely be targeted who are union Representatives, unfavorable to the principal, or simply do not share their political views.

The selection process for which students will be entering certain class rooms the next school year has always been questionable. This opens up the door to be even more bias.

But these are the kinds of things that you can expect to happen when you elect a "Super Majority" of Republicans along with shady Governors in your State legislature.
